I ran my first 10K race last Saturday. It went great! I was more prepared to face the hills than I was the week before on my 5K race... Well, actually when I say hills I mean the side of mountain. I'm really not exaggerating the race was on Raccoon Mountain. There were a lot of hills, but nothing like the large one between miles three and four. It lasted almost an entire mile and it was tough, but I ran it. It felt so good to run the whole race and since the race application had mentioned the large hill between miles three and four I was prepared for it. No surprises!
My goal was to finish my first 10K race in less than an hour. I figured since I had made the goal to run my first 5K in less than 30 minutes then I should be able to do it. I knew the pace I needed to keep in order to make that time so I kept a close eye on my garmin to make sure I was maintaining it. I'm not going to lie, when I started the race I was scared I may just finish in last place. I was so concerned about keeping my pace and not starting out too fast. By mile two however, I noticed I was passing people and no my pace had not changed I was just able to maintain while I'm guessing others could not. I also passed quite a few on the big hill between miles three and four. Then when we reached the last water break at mile five (I stopped at every water break) I was able to start back up and use all I had left to pass even more runners on the last 1.2 miles. I even passed an older couple who had decided to walk in the 5K race which started at the same time as the 10K.
According to my official finish time I finished my first 10k in 57 minutes and 59 seconds. I'm not completely sure what's up with my finish time, my garmin had me about 15 seconds faster than my chip time and actually the clock said 57:47 when I crossed the finish line. Oh well, I'm not too worried about it. I'm happy with my time and can't wait to find another another 10K that's a little flatter. I think I can really cut some time if I find a different course. Not that I did not enjoy that race, I actually loved it! Who can say they loved a 10K race? I've never felt so great about a particular race. It was absolutely beautiful, difficult, but beautiful. I really enjoyed the scenery atop the mountain. This is a race that I could definitely see myself running again.

Can't believe it is Friday!
This week has went by so fast! The girls didn't get to try out Awanas Wednesday night due to a last minute change of plans, but they will. It will officially kick off next week.
I spent most of yesterday in Knoxville. Kylee had an appointment, nothing big just a consultation. We did a little shopping and then had lunch.
Kaitlynn's school had open house last night so we got to meet her teachers. She has three this year!
Immediately after open house we split up and Trey took Kaitlynn to soccer practice and I took Kendall to ballet. Kylee chose to go to the soccer field with Trey and Kaitlynn.
I don't think we have anything planned for tonight, yay! Saturday, however is packed meaning I will have lots to write about. :)

Weekend Blogger.
It seems that lately I have turned into a weekend only blogger. I'm trying to change that and at least get two posts up during the week. It may mean that Wordless Wednesdays and Photo Fridays may get back into the rotation or you may get a rambling post about what's going on in our lives. I suppose it all has to do with the amount of time I have. I do promise however to try to get more published.
Our church kicks off Awanas tonight so that should be fun! All of our girls are old enough to participate and are excited to get started. Trey is in charge of recreation and I am assisting in the 5th and 6th grade class. I'll admit I do not know much about the program, but from what I have heard it's a great one.

What a busy weekend...
Yes, this post is a few days late. I suppose it has taken us this long to recover.
On Friday night we had our Fantasy Football Lottery party at our home (see post below).
On Saturday morning I got up at 4:30 am to drive to Knoxville and run my fourth 5K of the year. It was hot and hilly but I managed to finish in a decent time and 5th in my age group. Note to self it's hard to get a personal best on a hilly course.
I left Trey and the girls in bed, but they didn't stay there long. They woke up at 6am to get ready to be at the soccer field at 7am. Kaitlynn's first game started at 8am.
I finished the race and hung around (even in the pouring rain) for the awards ceremony. I always like to watch that. I like to wait for the names in my age group and see if I recognize any of the ladies. Like, hey I wasn't that far behind her. LOL! Anyways, after much wait they announced that the awards ceremony was postponed due to technical difficulties (I figure it had something to do with all the wet equipment). So I ran to the car (remember it is raining) and proceeded to make the one hour drive back home.
I called Trey and found out Kaitlynn's team lost their first game 4-3. Kaitlynn broke a shinguard, but one of her teammates had an extra pair that she let Kaitlynn borrow. While on the phone I remembered we had The Fur Ball later that night. The Fur Ball is a fundraiser for our local humane society. Trey and I have been to every Fur Ball together. I realized I had not bought a dress to wear yet so I decided to stop off in Knoxville and do a little dress shopping. I wonder what everyone thought of me in the store? At least I took my bib number off before I went in. :)
I found a dress and finally made it back in town. I thought I was back in time to see the 2nd half of Kaitlynn's second game, but I actually got to watch the whole thing! This really wasn't a good sign because it meant that the fields were already behind and it wasn't even lunch time yet.
After that game, which they won 4-0, the five of us loaded in the car for a quick trip to Subway. After eating lunch we split up again. Kaitlynn and Trey went back to the fields and I took Kendall and Kylee back home to get naps and I was in desperate need of a shower. While I was at home I started to get a little nervous about us actually making it to the Fur Ball. Kaitlynn still had two more games to play. The games were so behind and the doors were to open at 6pm with dinner at 7pm. Yeah, it got a little crazy.
We drove all the girls to my parents' house and made it to the Fur Ball around 6:45pm. Fashionably late, maybe? Well, in all the rush I didn't get a picture of me and Trey. I really wish I had. Oh well, we made it so that is all that matters. We also won multiple silent auctions. Trey loves silent auctions. I guess we made it home around 11pm that night.
We all slept in Sunday morning and skipped church. We spent most of the day cleaning up the backyard from our party on Friday night. We cleaned so much that we forgot to run out and get Kaitlynn some new shinguards and since it was Sunday the store closed at 5pm.
It was a busy weekend, but it seems that every weekend has been busy lately.

Date Night!
Back to full sided...
Pool Party!
The girls were invited to a birthday party last night at the country club. They had a blast jumping off the diving boards. Our pool had a diving board when we bought the house, but we had it removed because it was old and I was afraid the girls would get hurt on it.

Weeki Wachee Mermaids

Since Kaitlynn and Trey are in Ohio this weekend for a soccer tournament me and my parents decided to take Kendall and Kylee to Ripley's Aquarium in Gatlinburg to see the Weeki Wachee Mermaids. They were only at the aquarium for the weekend so we just had to go. You all know how much Kylee loves mermaids!!

First Day of 5th Grade!
I can't believe it! I just sent Kaitlynn off to school, her first day as a 5th grader. Where does the time go?!
She found out yesterday which teacher she got and she was super excited! She is in Mrs. Forrest's class which is exactly where she wanted to be. I can't wait to hear all about her first day.
