Trey and I traveled to Disney World along with another couple so that I could compete in the Disney Wine & Dine half marathon. This race is one of my favorites because it is a night race and it's Disney!
I was so excited to find these beauties at the expo in my size. New balance 890's are the style that I wear, I probably have five pairs in different colors. These are special though because they were made exclusively for Run Disney and feature Cinderella on them!
A few more of the items that I picked up at the expo.
The pre-race picture. I had to grab a hat last minute because of the weather. It was pouring rain that night.
The after picture... I did not attend the finish line party because this race completely wore me out. I've never felt so terrible after a race. It may have been because I was battling a stomach virus or that I ran the whole race in a rain poncho to try to stay warm. I think the plastic poncho may have made me sweat more than normal even though the temperature was only around 50 degrees. After I stopped running I got really dizzy and felt like I was going to pass out. I also could not stop shaking. I couldn't make it to Trey so I borrowed the cell phone of a security guard and called him to tell him where I was and that I needed to go back to the hotel. All I wanted was a hot shower, dry clothes and fluids.
I did not set a new personal record, in fact it wasn't even close, but I finished... What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, right?
Here are my splits:
5K - 33:34 (10:49 pace)
10K - 1:09:22 (11:10 pace)
15K - 1:49:57 (11:48 pace)
Half Marathon Finish Time - 2:40:06 (12:13 pace)
The race photographers captured this picture for me and I feel that this picture just says it all. The perfect summary in one picture.
