Duke Talent Identification Program

Kaitlynn does really well in school and because of that she was invited to participate in the Duke University Talent Identification Program. Seventh graders that meet certain academic standards are invited into the program. Kaitlynn met those standards.

Participating in the program meant she was allowed to take the ACT. Most juniors and seniors take this test in hopes of getting a score that will gain them admission into their college of choice or a score that is high enough to make them eligible for scholarships at that school.

Kaitlynn rocked the test!

She was invited to our state recognition ceremony at Vanderbilt University and the grand recognition ceremony at Duke University.

75,172 students participated nationally in the program this year. Out of those students 23,379 qualified for recognition at state level. Only 1,670 students qualified for grand recognition. Kaitlynn was one of those students!

Since Kaitlynn qualified for grand she opted not to go to the state recognition ceremony because she didn't want to miss school for the trip. :)

All six of us made the trip to Duke to watch the ceremony last month.

We are so proud of her!

Here is a picture of her scores.

Remember these scores are ranked among those of high school students so those rank percentages are pretty awesome! She hasn't even taken Algebra I yet. WOW! She amazes me.
