Warrior Dash Carolinas

Last Friday I drove to Charlotte to meet up with Laura at her friend Irene's house.
Later that evening we were joined by Katie, Heather, and Kim.

Thanks so much Irene for letting us all crash at your house.
 Pre-race photo - Warriors!
The race was a 5k with some crazy obstacles spread through out it. I will admit my least favorite obstacle was the one that took us through this swamp. We could smell the water before we ever reached it.
Right before we finished we had to jump fire and then crawl under barbed wire through a mud pit.
I have never been so muddy before in my life.
Laura carried her waterproof/mudproof camera along with her during the race. She got some great pictures, Thanks Laura!

Me and Laura after the race. We changed clothes but we were still caked in mud. The race was a blast and I had a great time hanging out with the girls.

Kendall's First Soccer Practice

It seems like soccer is all I have been blogging about lately, but it is officially soccer season and we have two soccer players this year! Kendall is finally old enough for AYSO soccer and she had her first practice tonight. Trey is coaching her team and Kylee is practicing with the team. She isn't old enough to play quite yet.
Kendall did very well and it appears that the team will be pretty good.
At only 3 years old, Kylee was able to hang with these 5 and 6 year olds while showing some impressive soccer skills.
It is almost as if the child has been raised on a soccer field...

The girls were worn out, so at the end of practice Trey made them all take some deep breaths. We do not have Kendall's schedule yet, but her first game should be sometime in the next two weeks.

Game 3

Game 3 was tonight and I am so happy to say it was a win. The girls are 3-0 for the season!
Kaitlynn telling her teammates where to stand on a corner kick.
Kaitlynn is pictured above about to make a save. The girls played well tonight, but this game was tougher. Unfortunately, Kaitlynn had to face another penalty kick. This one went about an inch too high. Kaitlynn was so mad! She said she wants to grow some more. Okay now Kaitlynn, you are 5'6 at 11 years old, don't whine too much (I'd love to be 5'6). It is a huge goal though... 8 feet high and 24 feet wide. The team ended up winning 3-2. Their next game is next Thursday.

Game 2

Kaitlynn's middle school soccer team had their 2nd game of the season this evening and Kaitlynn recorded her first shut out of the season!! She's so happy! She had to work very hard for it too. She had lots of great saves, including the one pictured below which was a penalty kick! Those are tough but she killed it. I really wish I had it on video. She was amazing! She blocked the penalty kick but then had to immediately jump up and do a rolling save on the ground since the ball was still live.
All five of us were at this game, sporting our team shirts.

The scoreboard. This picture was Trey's idea. After I got home I realized just how big this win was... Look at the signs to the sides of the board. CCS is a really good team.
Among the many scrapes and bruises Kaitlynn also ended up with a busted lip. Thank goodness she had her mouth guard in. Her lip was busted on the save she had immediately after the penalty kick. She stopped a girl's knee with her mouth!
Next game is tomorrow afternoon and it just so happens to be the first home game. Can't wait to watch!

Game 1

Kaitlynn's middle school soccer team played their first official game of the season on Friday. Kaitlynn is starting goalie and she loves it! She loves the fact that as a 6th grader (the school is for grades 6-8) she gets to start and play all of every game. I missed this game because I was in North Carolina for a Warrior Dash (I'll post more about that later). Trey took Kendall and Kylee and said Kaitlynn and her team played great! He kept me up to date through text messages. The girls won their first game 10-1!! Go Lady Cougars!

The Fur Ball

Saturday night Trey and I went to the 5th annual Fur Ball. Fur Ball, you ask? Why yes, for the past five years our local humane society has organized a fundraiser that includes dinner, dancing, and Trey's favorite - a silent auction.
It's a nice little date night for us and it is pretty cool to say that we have been to every Fur Ball.

12

It is obvious that over the years Kaitlynn has grown and her jersey colors have changed, but one thing that has stayed the same is the number.
Kaitlynn has worn the #12 as often as she can.
Trey wore the #12 when he played basketball.
So, I guess this is becoming a family thing.
One thing is for sure, Kaitlynn loves it and will do anything to wear that number.

She came home from soccer practice today and was grinning from ear to ear. She will also be wearing the #12 for the middle school team! She is so happy!

Chattanooga Mud Run

This past Saturday I participated in the Chattanooga Mud Run. Along with four other friends we formed a team of five and named ourselves the Muddy Moms.
Here we are nice and clean before the race.
The course was a 5K with 16 obstacles spread throughout it, including mud!
Here I am about to enter the mud pit. Thankfully, I was able to stand up after going down the slip in slide so I didn't slide in face first.
It just kept getting deeper and a lot of people lost their shoes in there! I'll admit that before the race started I noticed quite a few people that had duck taped their shoes on... We all tied our shoes a little tighter after seeing that.
 Almost out.
 Yay, I made it out!
 Up the hill we went.
The last obstacle, nothing like crawling to the finish line.
I was wearing the timing chip, so I was instructed to start slow and then lead the team to the finish line.
 We did it!
Our shoes made it out too!

Our official time was 39:01 and we were all happy with that. We weren't out there to win, we were out there to have fun. At the same time though, I think we will all admit we wanted to come in under 40 minutes. This race was also our practice run for the Warrior Dash that we are all doing next month. I can't wait!

Kaitlynn made it!

Kaitlynn made the middle school soccer team! We are so proud of and excited for her. Tryouts were last Friday and the roster was posted Monday. Practice started yesterday. Things are moving quickly! Her first game is an away game and will be on the 26th. Her coach told them this week practice will just consist of conditioning. The girls ran a ton yesterday!

She is so excited! This was her first opportunity to play a school sport since they are not offered until you reach the middle school. She's one of the first 6th graders that made the team, that's pretty cool. I can't wait to see how these girls do this season. Go Lady Cougars!

Keith Urban Concert

Last Friday night Trey and I went to the Keith Urban concert.
It was the third time that we have seen him live and he did not disappoint.
He puts on a great show.
I love to hear him play the guitar. It's awesome!

We had great seats. We were on the 19th row in the first section.

We had a great time and I hope we get the chance to go to another one of his concerts one day.
