Kendall's 6th Birthday Party

Here are a few pictures from Kendall's 6th birthday party. She decided on a soccer themed party in our backyard.
 Trampoline soccer?
 A little swimming.
 The gifts.
Kendall and Mandy.
 The cake.
 The birthday girl!

 Blowing out the candles.
 Opening her gifts.
You know the typical girly stuff... Make-up, dolls, and three gift certificates for pedicures and two gift certificates for manicures!
Her friends know her well. :)
Kendall taking her shot at the pinata.
Kylee putting her t-ball skills to work.
I think we managed to keep it from breaking until almost all the kids hit it.

It was a great party. I'm so thankful for all of our family and friends who were willing to come celebrate with us.

The girls did a great job! This was Kendall's third recital and Kylee's second... I wonder how many more they will have?

Soccer Season #??

I really don't know... Let's see she has played soccer since she was four years old, has only taken one season off, but has played a few summers. Yep, soccer has become a year round sport. Kaitlynn is the goalie for her club team. I don't actually have many pictures of her playing goalie though because at her request I have stopped taking them. She doesn't like the way she looks with her mouthpiece in.
This past season was a tough one for her club team. Offensively, nothing was happening. The team scored less than five goals the whole season. Since the offense wasn't meshing, the defense had to work twice as hard. The defense did just that too. Unfortunately working twice as hard meant they tired out and let a lot of balls by. Kaitlynn faced a ton of shots this season. I'm talking up to 40+ in some games. It was hard to watch. You know the whole kids are kicking balls at your daughter over and over thing! Well, she did great and held her own. Made a ton of great saves and even had some shut-outs. Shut-outs didn't lead to any wins though since we were unable to score. :(  I look at it as a practice season. Sometimes you have seasons like that. At the same time I know it made her a better goalie being forced to make that many saves.
At one of the last games of the season the coach let Kaitlynn play the field. I know she welcomed the change and was thankful to the girl willing step into the goal.
It was a good game. Kaitlynn played goalie for the first half and then moved to the field for the second half.

Kaitlynn scored!!! Our goalie scored! The grin on her face was awesome! This game ended in a 1-1 tie. When Kaitlynn came out of the goal in the second half the girl that stepped in for her gave up one goal.

Kendall's 2nd Soccer Season

Kendall completed her second season of soccer last month. Once again she impressed us with her soccer skills.
It's very obvious that she learned a few things from watching her sister play. I mean she has been on a soccer field since she was four months old!
She understands the game and excels both offensively and defensively.
It's still too early to tell but I think we may have a midfielder or a forward with her.
She definitely knows how to put the ball in the net. :)

Her team finished out the season undefeated as did her team from the the fall. It's not the same group of girls either. I think that might mean they have a pretty good coach. ;)

Kendall with her trophy! We are so proud of her!

Kylee's First T-Ball Season

Kylee wasn't old enough to play soccer this spring so she decided to try t-ball. It was probably a little crazy to sign her up. I was already busy taking Kaitlynn to track and soccer, Kendall to ballet, tap, and soccer and Kylee to ballet, but what you do for one you should do for all. At least that is the way I look at it.
It turns out she is a pretty good little t-ball player. Her coach bragged on her to us several times. She was the youngest one on the team but you couldn't tell. She picked up on it quick.
She made several great catches including a few in the air.
She had some great hits and even hit it when the coach pitched it to her!

I was surprised at how quickly she figured out the game and that playing the field seemed to be her favorite part. She always paid attention and tried to catch every ball. About halfway through the season the coach taught her about playing positions and she learned which balls were hers and which ones were her teammates. Therefore she quit chasing balls into the outfield when she was suppose to be playing first base. :) It was a great season and I'm pretty sure she will want to do it again next year.

Kaitlynn's First Track Season

Kaitlynn's first year of middle school has been very eventful and busy. She tried out and made the soccer team. The soccer team finished their season out by winning the SETAC Championship! Then she tried out and made the basketball team. She did very well during basketball season and got a lot of playing time, but at the same time there was no hiding the fact that she was a soccer goalie turned post player. Yep, she had more than her fair share of floor burns. :) As soon as basketball season ended she had her mind set on track. She tried out and made the track team as well. It didn't take her long to realize she liked distance. The 800 became her favorite event. She also competed in the 4x400 relay.

The 800!
At the SETAC Championship meet Kaitlynn placed 6th in the 800, as a sixth grader. We are very proud of her. She really has a love for sports and excelling in them.
